The 2010 season will mark Bob Fitsimmons' eighth year as the Head Coach of the Pacers softball team.  The 2008 PAC Coach of the Year, Fitzsimmons led the Pacers to their first playoff appearance in 13 seasons (1995) in 2008 and followed that feat by establishing a program record 26-win season and another berth into the conference post-season in 2009. 

In 2006, Coach Fitzsimmons lead the softball team to it's most successful season since the mid-1980s with a 20-win season.  Fitzsimmons and the Pacers repeated that feat in 2008 with a 20-19 finish.

Actively involved in softball and basketball coaching for over the past 25 years, Coach Fitzsimmons is the former District 16 ASA Youth Softball Commissioner and past president of the ASA U18 Fast Pitch Summer League.  Fitzsimmons was also active for over 16 years with the North East Stars Fast Pitch Travel teams and had numerous winning teams while there.

A 1976 graduate of North Pocono High School and a graduate of Lackawanna Vo-Tech, Coach Fitzsimmons has been an assistant and head coach at several area high schools.  From 1992-1994, Fitzsimmons was the Varsity Softball Coach at Carbondale Area High School.  In 1994, he became an Assistant Varsity Coach at Abington Heights, where he remained until 1998.  From 1998-2002, Fitzsimmons was first the assistant and later the Head Coach at Western Wayne High School.

James Delonti

A teacher for over 35 years at nearby Valley View High School, Jame Delonti enters his 7th season as Assistant Softball Coach at Marywood University.  Prior to arriving at Marywood, Coach Delonti served as Valley View's softball coach for 10 years.  In 2008, Delonti and Head Coach Bob Fitzsimmons led the Pacer to their first playoff appearance since 1995 and in 2009 set a new school record with 26 wins.

Delonti amassed a 134-29 record in 10 seasons as Head Coach at Valley View.  During that time, his teams qualified for the playoffs in all 10 seasons and obtained the 1994 AAA/AAAA League Championship, the 1999, 2000, 2002 and 2003 AA League Championships, and were the AA State Champions in 2000.  For his efforts, Coach Delonti was named the 1999 and 2000 Scranton Times-Tribune Regional Coach fo the Year.

Coach Delonti, a 1973 graduate of Mansfield University, holds a B.S. in Elementary Education.  In 1997, Delonti obtained his M.S. in Elementary Education from the University of Scranton.  He and his wife, Elizabeth, reside in nearby Peckville with their two daughters, Norina (a 2002 graduate of Marywood) and Angela.
