Box Score

Oneonta, NY - Siobhan Blancaflor and Kaitlyn Hresko each scored for the second time in as many days and head coach Andrew Smith earned his 100th career coaching victory as the Marywood University women's soccer team captured the 7th annual Erinn K. Brozman Cup with a 4-0 win over Utica College Sunday afternoon in Oneonta, New York. Marywood's win, coupled with a Hartwick 1-0 win over Delaware Valley College, means the Pacers take home the tournament hardware for the third time in four years. Marywood also won the Brozman Cup in 2007 and 2008.

Blancaflor (Haddam, CT), who scored the game-tying goal to force overtime in Marywood's 2-1 win over Hartwick yesterday, found the back of the net just over nine minutes into Sunday's game to give Marywood (2-1) a 1-0 lead. Blancaflor's tally started when senior Andrea Barker (Binghamton, NY) sent a long ball to the corner to freshman Erin Jones (Vestal, NY). Jones one-timed the ball around a defender before slotting a crossing pass which Olivia Habicht (Woodcliff Lake, NJ) back-heeled to a slotting Blancaflor. Both Habicht and Jones were credited with assists on the play.

The Pacers doubled that lead in the 30th minute when Tayler Simmons (Hopewell Junction, NY) took a feed from Shannon Hresko (Gibbstown, NJ) and beat the Utica keeper one-on-one. Utica would get several looks early in the second half before Kaitlyn Hresko (Gibbstown, NJ) put the game out of reach with an unassisted chip-shot over the keeper from 25-yards out. Freshman Emma Nye (Keene, NY) closed the scoring on the day when she took a through pass from Blancaflor in for a breakaway and her first collegiate goal with just nine seconds remaining.

Hartwick would later beat Delaware Valley so Marywood was the only team to finish the tournament with a 2-0 record. Delaware Valley and Hartwick each went 1-1 while Utica was 0-2.

The Pacers out-shot Utica 17-8 on the day and held a 4-1 advantage on corners. Meghan Coyle (Endicott, NY) made four saves in 90 minutes of action to earn her first shutout of the season in goal. Jocelyn Rivera made three saves for Utica.

Marywood returns to action Wednesday when they travel to New York to take on #8 Ithaca College. Kick-off is scheduled for 4:00 pm.
