Men's Soccer Blanked by Muhlenberg
Two goals in the final five minutes break open tight contest

Allentown, PA – Holding a 1-0 lead, Muhlenberg College scored two goals in the final 3:55 of the first half to break open a tight contest on their way to a 5-0 win over visiting Marywood University in non-conference men’s soccer action on Saturday. The defending Centennial Conference regular season champion Mules open their season with a victory while the Pacers fall to 1-1.
Muhlenberg took the lead in the 27th minute after Cody Antonini picked off a Marywood pass and quickly found Mike Williams who beat Marywood goalkeeper Shane Quinn from close range.
The Pacers looked to equalize and had hard shots by Ryan Jones (Holland, PA) and Lee Powers (Mill Hall, PA) sail just wide of the Mules’ net. Muhlenberg countered with goals by Antonini and Josh Luginbuhl in the final 3:55 of the half to hold a 3-0 halftime advantage.
In the 63rd minute, Danny Way beat two Marywood defenders off the dribble and calmly slotted home a ball from the top of 18-yard box to stretch the Mules’ lead to four before Kenn Andersen closed out the scoring with an unassisted tally in the 89th minute.
Muhlenberg held a 13-2 advantage in shots for the game and a 6-3 edge in corner kicks.
Quinn (Clarks Summit, PA) was credited with two saves in Marywood’s net.
The Pacers are back in action on Sunday when they visit Moravian College for a non-conference game scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
