Women's Cross Country Tied Atop CSAC Coaches' Poll
Pacers tied with Gwyendd-Mercy, who won 2009 championship by virtue of a tiebreaker
Marywood is looking for their first conference title since 2007 this season.
Aston, PA., - Marywood University women’s cross country team has been selected in first place in the Colonial States Athletic Conference coaches’ poll, tied with Gwynedd-Mercy College, who won the 2009 CSAC Championship by virtue of a tiebreaker. The Pacers and Griffins each captured 115 points in the balloting.
"We are honored to be chosen as one of the CSAC preseason favorites in women's cross country" Marywood head coach Kevin Borelli said. "We also realize that with a very young team coupled with the loss of some important seniors we have a lot of proving to do against an increasingly challenging league."
"We are honored to be picked as a preseason favorite, but in reality know defending our conference title will be very difficult," said Gwynedd-Mercy coach Mike Dager. "Marywood is a very solid team and while we beat them at CSACs last fall it was the only time we beat them all year."
Cabrini College received 88 points for a third place finish while Cedar Crest College received 78 for fourth. Keystone College was tabbed fifth with 65 points, two points ahead of sixth place Baptist Bible College (63 points). Neumann University (56 points), Philadelphia Biblical University (48 points), Immaculata University (34 points), Centenary College (33 points) and Rosemont College (31 points) rounded out the voting.
Marywood will be looking to capture its first conference championship since 2007 on October 30, 2010 at the CSAC championships hosted by Gwynedd-Mercy College.
