Aston, PA- Marywood University’s women’s tennis team has been picked to finish third in the Colonial States Athletic Conference this season according to a balloting of the conference’s coaches released today. The Pacers went 7-3 in conference play last season and qualified for the CSAC playoffs where they were eliminated in the semifinals by Gwynedd-Mercy College, who was selected at this year’s pre-season favorite.
Pre-season favorite Gwynedd-Mercy has won back-to-back CSAC championships and received 7 of 11 first-place votes for a total of 111 points. Neumann University, last year's conference runner-up, earned second place with 99 points, including one first place vote, just seven points ahead of Marywood, who received 92 points and one first place vote.
Cabrini College received two first place votes for 86 points total and a fourth place finish, followed by Cedar Crest’s 85 points. Rosemont College was tabbed for a sixth place finish with 51 points, while Immaculata University (44 points), College of Notre Dame (43 points), Keystone College (43 points), Philadelphia Biblical University (38 points) and Baptist Bible College (34 points) rounded out the voting.
The CSAC Championships will be played at the Westend Racquet Club on Friday, October 22 and Saturday, October 23 in Allentown, PA.
Marywood opens play on Thursday, September 2nd when they host Lancaster Bible College.
