Aston, PA – Marywood University’s volleyball team has been picked to finish sixth in the Colonial States Athletic Conference pre-season coaches’ poll. The Pacers’ earned 73 points in a balloting of the conferences coaches after qualifying for the CSAC playoffs with a 7-4 record in conference play a season ago.
Cabrini College was selected as the 2010 pre-season favorite as the defending conference champions received 10 of the 12 first-place votes for a total of 142 points in the poll. Cabrini rolled to a perfect regular season conference record at 11-0 in 2009.
Neumann University finished second in the poll with 121 points in the poll followed by 2009 runner-up, Philadelphia Biblical University, who captured 119 points, including one first place vote. Baptist Bible College was tabbed to finish fourth with 109 points and Centenary College was selected fifth with 89 points, just ahead of Marywood and Immaculata, who tied for sixth with 73 points.
Gwynedd-Mercy College (68 points), Cedar Crest College (55 points), College of Notre Dame (41 points), Keystone College (33 points), and Rosemont College (14 points) rounded out the voting.
The CSAC Championships begin on Tuesday, November 2 and conclude on Saturday, November 6 with the championship game at the highest remaining seed.
Marywood opens the 2010 season on September 3rd at the King’s College Tournament.
