The new 17,000-square foot Aquatics Center will be the region’s premier swimming and diving facility, serving 3,500 Marywood University students, including the new Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving teams. Marywood University is a member of NCAA Division III and competes in the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC). The Pacers recently joined the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) as well, giving the men's and women's swimming and diving programs opportunities at individual and team championships since the CSAC does not sponsor championships in those sports.
The Aquatics Center represents the third phase of a $25 million expansion of the Marywood University Athletics and Recreation program facilities. It will also add 17,000 square feet of competitive and recreational space to the 67,000-square foot Robert J. Mellow Center for Athletics and Wellness, which opened in 2006. Marywood University also expanded its outdoor athletic and recreational space in Fall 2009 with a synthetic turf field, providing a fully lighted year-round playing surface for the University’s Lacrosse, Soccer, and Field Hockey teams.
