Softball Advances to CSAC Championships with 6-1 Win Over Immaculata
Brennan's pitching, Dommes bat propels Pacers

Scranton, PA - Kaitlyn Brennan allowed just one unearned run and Ashley Dommes picked up two RBI as Marywood University advanced to this weekend's CSAC Softball Championships with a decisive 6-1 win over Immaculata University Wednesday afternoon in Scranton. Marywood, now 19-16 overall, advances to take on top-seeded Neumann University on Friday. Neumann will host the four remaining teams in a round-robin, double-elimination tournament held over two days. Immaculata closes their season at 17-17.
Brennan allowed a single unearned run in the first inning but Marywood responded with two runs in both the second and third innings to take a 4-1 lead. Shawna Sandy (Scranton, PA) tripled to start the Pacer half of the second and scored on a Dommes RBI double down the left-field line. Dommes (Scranton, PA) would then advance home on a throwing error by the Mighty Mac catcher on a failed pick-off attempt at third.
The Pacers added two more in the fourth as Kim Lope (Clifton, NJ) scored on a ground out by Sandy and Dommes picked up an RBI on a ground out to short. Marywood would add insurance runs in both the fourth and sixth innings to secure the 6-1 win.
Brennan, who was recently named to the First Team All-Conference as a designated player, picked up her eighth win of the year on the mound after pitching a complete game. She struck out two and allowed just four hits on the afternoon. Dommes finished the game 1-3 with a double and two RBI while Sandy was 1-3 with a triple and an RBI.
Nicole Curcione took the loss on the mound for the visitors after allowing five earned runs on eight hits. Curcione also struck out two. Jackie Finkbohner led the way for Immaculata offensively with a double.
Fourth seed Marywood will travel to Aston, Pennsylvania for a Friday 12:00 pm game against top-seeded Neumann. The winner will then play the winner of the 10:00 am game while the loser will have to play an elimination game immediately.
