Three First Team Selections Highlight Softball Year-End Awards
In all, six Pacers recognized by coaches on All-CSAC teams

Kaitlyn Brennan earned her second consecutive 1st Team All-Conference nod

Aston, PA – Kaitlyn Brennan, Ashley Dommes and Meghin Palmer were all named to the First Team while Shawna Sandy and Kim Lope earned Honorable Mention honors as the Colonial States Athletic Conference announced year-end award winners as voted on by the leagues’ coaches.  Kim Flanagan was also recognized as Marywood’s nominee to the Sportsmanship team. 

Brennan earned her second consecutive First Team bid after a strong sophomore campaign.  The Taylor, Pennsylvania native and Riverside High School product was selected to the First Team as a designated player.  Brennan batted .390 in 30 games for the Pacers and tied for the team lead with six doubles.  She was second on the team with 24 RBIs had had a stellar .688 slugging percentage to go along with a .457 on-base percentage.  

Dommes, a West Scranton product, earned her All-Conference selection as a third-baseman after hitting .439 on the year.  Dommes started and played in 33 of the team’s 34 games on the year, leading the Pacers with 12 doubles and five homers.  Her 32 RBIs and 74 total bases, along with her .755 slugging percentage, were all team bests. 

Rounding out Marywood’s First Team All-Conference selections is freshman outfielder Meghin Palmer (Greencastle, PA).  Palmer led the Pacers with a .491 batting average and led the Pacers with 55 hits in her first year.  The center-fielder had a .933 fielding percentage and committed just three errors on the year.  She swiped 19 of 24 stolen base attempts and struck out just nine times on the year. 

Freshman Shawna Sandy (Scranton, PA) and sophomore Kim Lope (Clifton, NJ) both earned Honorable Mention selections to the All-CSAC team.  Sandy batted .400 and had six doubles to go along with five triples and one home run.  As a catcher, Sandy did not commit an error on the season and recorded a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage with 77 putouts and 14 assists on the year. 

Lope, a second-team honoree in 2009, earned her second All-Conference nod after switching to the infield from outfield in 2010.  Lope batted .417 and was the lone Pacer to start and play in all 34 games the team played.  She led the team with 45 runs scored on the year and had seven doubles, six triples, two homers and 20 RBI.  She was 30 of 31 in stolen bases making her 48 of 49 for her two-year career.

Kim Flanagan was the team’s selection to be on the All-CSAC Sportsmanship team.  The senior from Monroe, New York played in all 34 games and led the Pacers with 240 putouts as a first-baseman.  Flanagan had three doubles and 16 RBIs on the year.
