Aston, PA – Marywood University women’s lacrosse players Taylor McKeown and Allie Sodl were named First Team All-Conference, highlighting six Pacers to be recognized by the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) as the commissioners’ office announced the First, Second and Honorable Mention All-Conference teams and individual sportsmanship awards today. Carrie Glenn garnered Second Team honors while Alexis Willey and Katie Sullivan were named the Honorable Mention squad. Kelly Kryspin was selected as Marywood’s CSAC Sportsmanship Award recipient.
McKeown, an attacker from Nashua, NH, earns her second-straight First Team honors after a record-setting sophomore season. The 2009 CSAC Rookie of the Year has already established new program records this year with 80 goals and 91 points on the season. Twice named the CSAC player of the week, McKeown netted the 100th point of her career in a win over Neumann University on March 16th and scored her 100th career goal two days later in a win over King’s College. The sophomore currently ranks fourth in the nation in goals and seventh in points.
Sodl, a junior midfielder from Coplay, PA, captured her first All-Conference laurels after leading the Pacers in groundballs draw controls and ranking second on Marywood’s scoring chart with 61 points on 52 goals and 9 assists. An IWLCA Academic All-American selection as a sophomore, Sodl leads the team with 67 groundballs and 53 draw controls while contributing 21 caused turnovers. The junior recorded her 100th career point in win over Immaculata University on March 25th and her 100th career goal in a loss to Centenary College on April 17th.
Glenn, a senior defender from Rifton, NY, caps off her career with her third-straight Second Team All-Conference selection. The two-year team captain and anchor of the Pacers’ defense ranks 28th nationally with a team-best 30 caused turnovers. Glenn has also contributed 52 groundballs and 30 draw controls this season while scoring two goals and one assist for three points from her defensive position.
Willey, a junior attacker from Hummelstown, PA, garners the first All-Conference honors of her career after being named to the Honorable Mention Team. Willey leads the conference and ranks 36th nationally with 27 assists on the season. The junior, who has shattered her own program record for assists in a season, set new program best with four helpers in a contest, accomplishing the feat in conference wins over Neumann University and Cedar Crest College. Willey, a team captain, ranks third on Marywood’s scoring sheet with 39 points with 14 goals to go along with her 27 helpers.
Sullivan, a junior goalie from Merrick, NY, was named to the All-Conference Honorable Mention a season after capturing Second Team accolades. Sullivan, a team captain, currently ranks fourth in country with 192 saves, 15th in an average of 12 saves per game, and 20th with a .518 save percentage. The junior has started all 16 games in Marywood’s cage, posting an 8-8 record and has been credited with 17 groundballs, four caused turnovers, and two points on one goal and one assist on the season.
Kryspin, a freshman attacker from Hopatcong, NJ, was named Marywood’s CSAC Sportsmanship Award recipient after a solid rookie campaign. A starter in 13 of the Pacers’ 16 games to date, Kryspin is Marywood’s fourth-leading goal-scorer, tallying 20 times this season. The freshman leads the team in free-position scoring percentage, converting 9 of 14 opportunities (64.2 percent) from the 8-meter arch. Kryspin has also contributed 27 groundballs, 12 draw controls, and 8 caused turnovers on the season.
Marywood, currently 8-8 on the season, will play the College of Notre Dame in the first round of the CSAC playoffs in Baltimore tomorrow at 12:00 p.m. The Pacers earned the fifth-seed in the postseason after going 4-4 in conference play. The Gators, 7-7 overall and 5-3 overall, are the fourth seed in this year’s tournament.
