Immaculata, PA - Host Immaculata University took game one of a Colonial States Athletic Conference softball doubleheader from Marywood University, 7-3, but fell in the nightcap, 6-2, on Saturday afternoon. Immaculata now sits at 12-15 overall and 9-7 in the CSAC while Marywood remains even overall at 15-15 and move to 12-6 in the league.

In the opener, Nikki Curcione (7-7) toss a complete-game, scattering seven hits over seven innings and allowing three earned runs. She walked one and struck out five.  Marywood scored one run in the second on a solo home run from Ashley Dommes (Scranton, PA).

Curcione hit a RBI double, Holly Schell drove in one run and Curcione came around to score on an error, staking the Mighty Macs to the early lead, 3-1.

Marywood answered back with two runs in the fourth to tie the game at 3-all. However, Immaculata broke through in the fifth with three runs. Mindy Monastra hit a solo shot to left field to lead off the inning, and Immaculata scored two unearned runs before Marywood was able to get out of the inning.

Immaculata added one more insurance run in the sixth as Sara Holleran plated Jackie Finkbohner. Monastra was 3-for-4 with a run scored and one RBI. Finkbohner and Katie Schreck each were 2-for-4, as Immaculata collected 13 hits during the opener.

Kaitlyn Jones (3-6) went all six innings for Marywood, giving up 13 hits and only two of Immaculata's runs were earned. She walked one and struck out two.

The Pacers held the Mighty Macs without a hit until the sixth inning of game two, while getting out to a 6-0 lead in the process, and that was all they needed to beat Allison Zborowski in the nightcap.

Immaculata rallied in the bottom of the seventh for two runs as Zborowski and McKenzie Brown each hit RBI singles to plate Monastra and Holleran, who had singled to begin the inning for the Mighty Macs.

Zborowski (5-8) pitched seven innings in the loss for Immaculata, allowing just one earned run on 10 hits. She struck out two Pacers.

Kaitlyn Brennan got the win in the circle for the Pacers. She allowed just five hits for two earned runs, and struck out four.  Brennan concluded a stellar week on the mound and at the plate with a 3-4 performance in the nightcap which included two doubles and two-RBI.

Marywood will face off against local non-conference rival the University of Scranton Monday evening at Scranton's Tripp Park.  First pitch of the opener in the scheduled doubleheader is set for 6:00 pm.
