Bolus Named CSAC Player of the Week
Sophomore's victory at two-singles gave Pacers big win over Neumann
Evan Bolus was named the CSAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week Monday morning
Aston, PA - Marywood University’s Evan Bolus was named the Colonial States Athletic Conference Player of the Week for Men’s Tennis for the week ending April 18, 2010. Bolus earned a victory in the deciding match at 2-singles to give the Pacers a 5-4 win over Neumann Sunday. In that match, Bolus earned a 6-3, 7-5 win over Neumann’s Greg Bridgeman.
The sophomore Scranton Prep product allowed just one game in two wins (singles & doubles) over non-conference Mt. St. Mary's. He was a 6-0, 6-0 winner in singles action and an 8-1 victor in doubles play against the Blue Knights. Bolus (Clarks Summit, PA) finished week 2-0 at number two singles (1-0 CSAC) and 2-0 at number one doubles (1-0 CSAC). Bolus and one-doubles partner Greg Chilson (Mountainside, NJ) earned a hard-fought 9-8 (8-6) win over the top team from Neumann.
The Pacers, who are riding a nine-match unbeaten streak and stand at 12-3 (6-0 CSAC), return to action Saturday when they host Gwynedd-Mercy College. With a win over the Griffins, Marywood will clinch the top seed in the upcoming four-team CSAC men’s tennis team championship tournament.
