Flemington, NJ - Centenary College used a five-run eighth inning to top visiting Marywood University 14-13 despite allowing the Pacers to plate nine runs over a late two-inning stretch in a key CSAC single game Friday afternoon at Diamond Nation Park in Flemington, New Jersey.  With the win, the Cyclones climb back to within a game of the Pacers in the CSAC standings before the teams complete their regular season series tomorrow in Scranton with twin-bill.

Centenary (14-14, 5-5 CSAC) played six runs over the first three innings of play to take a 6-1 lead.  The Pacers began to chip away at the lead and used a three-run fourth to make it a 6-4 game and would eventually take the lead with big seventh inning.  In the seventh, Marywood lit-up Cyclone reliever Dan Chapman for six runs highlighted by a two-run homer to right field from Jason Bugno (Scranton, PA) and a three-run shot to center from Joe Valvano (Katonah, NY).

Unfortunately for the Pacers, the hosts would not go away quietly, and they responded with a three-run seventh of their own to get back to within one at 10-9.  Marywood extended their lead back to four with three runs in the eighth as Mike Castellano (Brooklyn, NY) and Justin Magistro (Carbondale, PA) each picked up RBIs, but the Cyclones would rally with a five-run home half of the eighth and hold the Pacers scoreless in the ninth for the one run win.

Five different pitchers saw action for Marywood on the day with John Stolan (Old Forge, PA) getting the loss after just one inning of work.  Marywood starter Tim Freda (Westbury, NY) allowed five earned runs in three innings while Alex Magid (South Salem, NY) allowed just one hit in three innings of relief.

Bugno and Castellano each had two hits on the day as did David Lewis (Scranton, PA) and Valvano.  Bugno and Valvano each had three RBI in the outing.

The Pacers and Cyclones will take the field tomorrow in Scranton for two seven-inning affairs with the opener scheduled for a 12:00 pm start.
