Jones Named to JSR All-America Team
Freshman among 13 honored from Divisions II and III
Ryan Jones has been named to the Jewish Sports Review All-America Team.
Los Angeles, CA – Marywood University men’s soccer player Ryan Jones has been selected to the Jewish Sport Review’s 2009 Men’s Soccer All-America Team which was released in the January/February 2010 issue of the Review. Jones is one of just 13 players from NCAA Divisions II and III named to the squad.
A freshman defender from Holland, PA, Jones enjoyed an outstanding rookie season in which he started all 18 games and led the team with five assists. Jones also tallied two goals to finish the season with nine points to rank second on the Pacers’ scoring chart from his left back position. The freshman was also vital to Marywood’s stingy defense which allowed an average of one goal against per game and posted five shutouts.
Following the season, Jones and Brett Megee (Easton, PA) became the first two Marywood players ever to be named Colonial States Athletic Conference First Team All-Conference with Jones being the only freshman to be named to the First Team. A standout in the classroom as well as on the field, Jones, a Council Rock South graduate, was also named to the CSAC All-Academic squad for the fall.
Marywood finished the 2009 season with a 7-9-2 overall record and a 5-3-1 mark in conference play. The Pacers earned the fourth seed in the CSAC playoffs but were upset in the first round by Gwynedd-Mercy College.
