Orlando, FL - Freshman Todd Doran recorded the lone point for Marywood with a third-set tiebreaker win as Marywood closed out their spring break trip to Orlando, Florida with a 8-1 set-back to Ohio Northern University Friday afternoon. The win moves ONU to 3-2 on the year while Marywood drops back to .500 at 3-3.
Doran (South Windsor, CT) dropped ONU's Andrew Korba 6-4 in the opening set but fell to Korba 6-3 in the second set, forcing a decisive game three. In the third set, Doran squeezed out a 7-6 win, defeating his four-singles opponent 7-5 in the tie-breaker.
Marywood battled closely at one and three doubles, falling 8-6 and 8-5 respectively, and Greg Chilson (Mountainside, NJ) fell in a third-set super-tiebreaker at two-singles but Marywood struggled elsewhere on the day.
Marywood returns north and will enjoy a two week break before traveling to Annville to take on Lebanon Valley College on March 19 at 3:30 pm.
