Marywood Announces Aquatics Center Drawings
Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving will give Pacers 16 Intercollegiate sports
Marywood's brand new Aquatics Center will open in the Fall of 2010
Scranton, PA - The Athletics and Recreation Department is proud to introduce the Marywood University Aquatics Center! Expected to open during the 2010-2011 academic year, the new 17,000-square foot Aquatics Center will be the region’s premier swimming and diving facility, serving 3,500 Marywood University students, including the new Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving teams. Marywood University is a member of NCAA Division III and competes in the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC).
The Marywood University Aquatics Center (click to view full brochure) will be the newest swimming and diving facility in Northeast Pennsylvania, and home to the University’s 15th and 16th intercollegiate teams—Men’s Swimming and Diving and Women’s Swimming and Diving. The facility will also provide recreation and competitive opportunities for the campus community as well as regional schools and organizations. The Aquatics Center represents the third phase of a $25 million expansion of the Marywood University Athletics and Recreation program facilities.
The Aquatics Center will add 17,000 square feet of competitive and recreational space to the 67,000-square foot Robert J. Mellow Center for Athletics and Wellness, which opened in 2006. Marywood University also expanded its outdoor athletic and recreational space in Fall 2009 with a synthetic turf field, providing a fully lighted year-round playing surface for the University’s Lacrosse, Soccer, and Field Hockey teams.
