Three-sport standout Caitlin Hadzimichalis was named the CSAC Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
Aston, PA – Marywood University three-sport standout Caitlin Hadzimichalis has been named the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year according to an announcement made today by the commissioner’s office. Hadzimichalis becomes the second straight Pacer female student-athlete to earn the award, matching Marissa Ruda’s accomplishment from a year ago and also marks the fifth time a Marywood student-athlete has been named the conference’s Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

Hadzimichalis (Harmony, NJ), who recently graduated with her Bachelor’s Degree in Health and Physical Education with two minors in Coaching and Nutrition, carried a 3.85 overall grade point average heading into the spring semester. A three-sport standout, Hadzimichalis captained Marywood’s field hockey, women’s basketball, and softball teams to CSAC playoff appearances during her senior campaign.

On the field hockey field, Hadzimichalis was a two-time First Team All-Conference selection (2007 and 2008) and was also named to the 2008 CSAC Sportsmanship Team. The midfielder was named the team’s MVP and was a two-time winner of the Dr. Jane Farr Award for Excellence in Field Hockey (2007 and 2008).

On the basketball court, Hadzimichalis was named the team’s MVP for both the 2005-2006 and 2007-2008 seasons and after helping lead the Pacers to the playoffs during her senior season, was named to the CSAC Sportsmanship Team.

On the softball diamond, Hadzimichalis was a Second Team All-Conference selection this past year after helping lead the Pacers to a school-record 27 wins and the team’s second straight conference playoff appearance.

For her academic and athletic achievements, Hadzimichalis was named Marywood’s Senior Co-Student Athlete of the Year this year. A standout both on and off the field of play, Hadzimichalis was a four year All-Conference Honor Roll selection, a two-time Pacer Scholar-Athlete selection, and was named to the Dean’s List every semester. Additionally, Hadzimichalis served as Marywood’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee president her junior and senior years and attended the NCAA Leadership Conference in May 2008.

In addition to Ruda, Hadzimichalis joins Piper Frick (Field Hockey/Basketball, 2000-2001), Elizabeth Dittrick (Women’s Tennis, 2005-2006), and Dustin Rhodes (Men’s Tennis/Cross Country, 2004-2005) as recipients of the conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award.

Keystone College’s Robert Booth was named the CSAC Male Student-Athlete of the Year after posting a 3.8 grade point average and captaining the Giants’ track and field and cross country teams for the past two seasons.
