Augusta, NJ - After dropping their ninth straight game in a close 5-4 decision to Centenary in Saturday's CSAC opener and then finding themselves down 3-0 in the nightcap, Marywood could have easily folded, but instead the Pacers battled back to earn a 6-4 come-from-behidn win, earning their first conference win of the season in the process. Marywood, led by freshman pitcher Mason Webster's win in the nightcap, improved to 7-18 and 1-8 in CSAC play while Centenary sees their mark move to 12-17 (7-8).

Webster (Hop Bottom, PA) improved to 2-2 with a six-hit complete-game effort. Webster struck out seven Centenary batters and walked only three. Down 4-1 after three-full, Marywood scored twice in the fourth and fifth innings each then added an insurance run in the sixth to secure their first conference victory of 2009. Ryan Cusomato (Sparta, NJ) was 3-4 with a double and two runs scored for Marywood, while TJ Czerw (Scranton, PA) was 2-4 with a triple and three RBI. Joe Diskin (Clarks Summit, PA) was 2-4 with two RBI as well for the Pacers.

Down 1-0 in the opener, Marywood took the lead with a four-run fourth but could not hold off the hosts, who scored two in the bottom half of the frame to cut the score to 4-3 and then scored two more in the bottom of the sixth for the win. Tim Freda (Westbury, NY) took the loss in the opener, striking out two over six innings of work. Freda allowed four earned runs on eight hits. Mike Tanis picked up the win on the mound for the Cyclones after pitching three innings of scoreless relief for starter Andrew Koncen. Koncen allowed four runs on four hits over four innings.

Matt Newcomb (Honesdale, PA) was 1-3 with a RBI for the Pacers, while Czerw also picked up an RBI. Friday's pinch-hitting hero Michael Fasano went 2-3 for the hosts, while center-fielder Lou Penna was 2-2 with a triple and three RBI.

Marywood returns to action Wednesday when the Pacers host the University of Scranton in a non-conference single game at 4:00 pm.
