Fillman, Ammirati Honored By CSAC
Fillman named Second Team All-Conference, Ammirati earns Sportsmanship Award
Emily Fillman has been named to the CSAC Second Team All-Conference squad.
Aston, PA – Marywood University volleyball players Emily Fillman and Maryrose Ammirati have been honored as the Colonial States Athletic Conference announced the recipients of the Player, Rookie, and Coach of the Year; First, Second and Honorable Mention All-Conference teams and individual sportsmanship awards today. Fillman was named Second Team All-Conference while Ammirati was named Marywood’s recipient of the CSAC Sportsmanship Award.
Fillman, a sophomore from Clarion, PA, was named Second Team All-Conference after an outstanding second year for Marywood. The hitter finished the regular season ranked fifth in the conference with 208 kills on the season and in hitting percentage. Fillman is averaging 2.85 kills per game and has recorded 38 service aces. Appearing in 73 games to date, Fillman ranks second on the team with 228 digs and has also picked up 14 assists and five blocks on the season to help the Pacers earn their first postseason berth since 2006.
Ammirati, a freshman from North Babylon, NY, was named Marywood’s recipient of the CSAC Sportsmanship Award after appearing in 50 games to date for the Pacers this season. The rookie libero has picked up 73 digs on the year, averaging 1.46 per game. Ammirati has recorded 22 service aces, four kills and two assist to help Marywood earn a conference playoff appearance.
Marywood, the sixth-seed in this year’s CSAC playoffs, will travel to Langhorne, PA on Tuesday evening to take on third-seeded Philadelphia Biblical University in the first round of the conference playoffs. First serve is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
