Men's Cross Country 34th at NCAA Regional Meet
Four runners break 30-minute barrier in last meet of year
The Men's Cross Country team finished 34th at the NCAA Regional meet Saturday
Bethlehem, PA - Marywood University had four runners break the 30-minute barrier as the Pacers finished in 34th place at the NCAA Regional Cross Country meet held in Bethlehem Saturday morning. The 2009 CSAC Runner-up Pacers had the third best finish of any CSAC school, finishing behind only Gwynedd-Mercy (12th place) and Keystone College (29th place). Eric Sprenkle led the way for the Pacers with a 118th place finish. Chris Marker and Jeramie Parker from Allegheny College finished one-two respectively to help the Gators bring home the team title.
Sprenkle, a freshman from York, finished the 8K course in a time of 27:35.5 to lead Marywood. Sprenkle's time was just five seconds off the Marywood University all-time record. Kenny Burdick (Taylor, PA) was next to cross the finish line for the Pacers, finishing at 28:51.0 to finish 187th. David Marra (Tannersville, PA) and Keith Makar (Whippany, NY) finished in 204th and 211th places respectively with times of 29:14.1 and 29.23.1. Brian Lewis (Scranton, PA), Cristian Triana (Bound Brook, NJ) and Damon Giambrone (New Hope, PA) all finished in under 31 minutes to round out Marywood's scoring.
The Pacers had a team time of 2:25:17.7 and averaged the 8K course in a time of 29:03.5. Allegheny College placed five runners in the top 25, including four in the top 16, to take home first place with an average time of 25:23.4. Carnegie Mellon finished second while Haverford, Dickinson and Elizabethtown rounded out the top five.
