Immaculata, PA – Marywood University’s men’s cross country team placed five runners in the top-20 on their way to a second place finish in Saturday’s Colonial States Athletic Conference Championships hosted Saturday by Immaculata University. The Pacers finished the morning with 59 points in the 8K race to finish runner-up behind Gwynedd-Mercy College.
After the Griffins swept the top three places in Saturday’s race, Marywood freshman Eric Sprenkle (York, PA) led Marywood with a time of 28:50 to bring home a fourth-place finish. Sprenkle earned First Team All-Conference honors for his performance and was also named Marywood’s recipient of the CSAC Sportsmanship Award.
Freshman Kenny Burdick (Taylor, PA) was the Pacers second finisher, bring home an 11th place result after completing the course in 29:46 and was followed by 12th place finisher, sophomore Dave Marra (Tannersville, PA), who finished in 29:52. Marywood freshman Brian Lewis (Scranton, PA) placed 14th with a time of 30:03 as the trio of Burdick, Marra, and Lewis all earned Second-Team All-Conference accolades.
Junior Keith Makar (Whippany, NJ) sealed the Pacers’ runner-up finish with an 17th place finish after crossing the stripe in 30:40.
Freshman Damon Giambrone (New Hope, PA) placed 20th overall with a time of 31:30 and junior Christian Triana (Bound Brook, NJ) was 30th overall after completing the course in 32:54.
Marywood will run again next Saturday at the NCAA Regional Meet hosted by Lehigh University in Bethlehem, PA.
