Box Score

Radnor, PA - Freshman goalkeeper Jamie Bowman registered a career high 17 saves to keep fifth seeded Marywood University alive but fourth seeded Cabrini College advanced past the visiting Pacers 1-0 on strokes in Saturday's CSAC first round game.  The Cavaliers (9-10) opponent in the semifinals will be either top-seeded Keystone College or second seeded Gwynedd-Mercy depending on the result of today's other first round game.  Marywood closes their season with an 8-9 mark.

Bowman (Cheshire, CT) collected a season and career high 17 saves on the day to help Marywood get to overtime and then strokes.  In strokes, Marywood missed their first four attempts and Cabrini missed their first three, but Cavalier Maura Gordon converted Cabrini's fourth attempt for the 1-0 lead.  Needing a goal to stay alive, Marywood missed their final attempt to give the Cavs the 1-0 win.  Four of Marywood's strokes were saved by Cabrini's Caitlin Donahue while one attempt sailed wide.  One Cabrini attempt went wide while Bowman made two stops.

Neither team could capitalize in the opening 70 minutes of play as Bowman and her Cabrini counterpart were up to the task in goal.  Cabrini controlled much of the play in the opening 35 minutes and the Pacers responded with numerous second half chances of their own.  In the first overtime, with both teams down to seven players, Cabrini went up a player when a  Marywood player was issued a yellow card.  Bowman came up with several big saves to force a second 15-minute extra period, where the Pacers would get a man-up situation as a Cavalier was yellow carded but the Pacers were unable to capitalize as well.

Julie Dougherty (Wading River, NY), Brittany Beaton (Bethel, PA) and Emily Eremo (Factoryville, PA) all registered three shots on goal for the Pacers.  Gordon was credited with the game-winning goal after converting her stroke for the Cavaliers.  Donahue had 12 saves for the shut-out win for Cabrini.
