Borrelli Wins Second-Straight Steamtown Marathon
Head cross country coach defends title with a time of 2:25:42
Marywood head cross country coach Kevin Borrelli won his second consecutive Steamtown Marathon on Sunday.
Scranton, PA – Marywood University head cross country coach Kevin Borrelli won his second-straight Steamtown Marathon on Sunday after completing the 26.2 mile course in 2 hours, 25 minutes, and 42 seconds. Borrelli finished 41 seconds ahead of runner-up Jeffrey McCabe and has now won the prestigious local marathon both times in which he has competed in the race.
Borrelli, a Throop resident and former Mid-Valley High School and Dusquene University standout, finished with a 5:34-mile pace on a challenging course that started at Forest City High School and finished at Courthouse Square in Downtown Scranton.
Now in his second year as the head coach of Marywood’s men’s and women’s cross country teams, Borrelli, who was just 3:01 off his time for the 2008 Steamtown Marathon, has now qualified for the Boston Marathon.
