Aston, PA - Marywood University three-sport standout Caitlin Hadzimichalis has been named the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year according to an announcement made today by the commissioner's office. Hadzimichalis becomes the second straight Pacer female student-athlete to earn the award, matching Marissa Ruda's accomplishment from a year ago and also marks the fifth time a Marywood student-athlete has been named the conference's Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

Aston, PA - Marywood University placed third in the 2008-2009 Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) President's Cup, the highest finish in school history after a year in which 12 of the Pacers' 14 teams qualified for postseason play. Marywood claimed fourth place in both the Men's Cup and in the Women's Cup standings according to an announcement made today by the commissioner's office.

Scranton, PA - Senior Erika Cook closed her storybook career with yet another honor as the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) announced that the second-baseman from Wyalusing has been named to the NFCA/Louisville Slugger All-East Region second team.  Cook, who earned first-team honors in 2008 as an at-large selection, did not commit an error during 2009 and was one of three Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) softball players to be honored, joining Neumann College's Angela Sebasto (second team) and Jen Goslin (third team).

Scranton, PA - Marywood University softball player Erika Cook has been named to the CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District II Second Team in an announcement made by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Thursday afternoon.  A National Third-Team and District II First Team selection in 2008, Cook becomes the first Marywood athlete to repeat as a recipient of the honor.

Aston, PA – Five Marywood University men’s baseball players have earned Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) All-Conference honors according to an announcement made today by the commissioner’s office. Senior outfielder Matt Newcomb was named First Team All-Conference while TJ Czerw, Joe Diskin, Pat Diskin, and Ryan Cusomato were each selected to the Second Team All-Conference squad.

Aston, Pa. – Marywood University’s softball team has earned the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Team Sportsmanship Award according to an announcement made today by the commissioner’s office. Given to the team that most embodies and demonstrates the spirit of sportsmanship, this award is voted on by the student-athletes on each of the respective teams.

Scranton, PA – Senior pitcher Korey Evans fired a complete game in the opener and fellow classmate Matt Newcomb set a new single-season hits record for Marywood as the host Pacers completed a series sweep against visiting Philadelphia Biblical University with a 6-1 win in the opener and a 13-3 victory in the nightcap. With the wins, Marywood completes their season at 11-23 (5-10 CSAC) while PBU fell to 0-26 (0-15 CSAC).

5.2.09 | Men's Lacrosse
Radnor, PA – Cabrini College claimed the school’s ninth consecutive Colonial States Athletic Conference men’s lacrosse title with a 22-8 win over Marywood University in Saturday’s CSAC Championship game at Edith Robb Dixon Field. The Cavaliers, currently ranked 14th in the nation, improve to 14-3 on the season with the win and clinch an automatic berth in the upcoming NCAA Tournament.

Langhorne, PA - Matt Newcomb hit a first inning grand slam and Joe Diskin and Jeff Cleary each went 3-for-4 as visiting Marywood University spoiled Philadelphia Biblical University's senior day with a 7-2 win over the host Crimson Eagles Friday afternoon in CSAC baseball action.  Hoping to make their last home game of the season their first win of the year, the Crimson Eagles were unable to pull off the task as Marywood exploded for five runs in the top of the first to go ahead for good.
